CCA GA State Advocacy:
CCA GA supports Operation R.O.E.(Release Over Eighteen) in Spring 2010. Operation R.O.E. calls
asks the public to release speckled seatrout over 18 inches. Over 90%
of speckled seatrout 18" or longer are female breeders. The abnormally
cold winter of 2009-10 caused a kill of spotted seatrout. Click here to see an informational video.

GA partnered with the University of Georgia Marine Extension Service
and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Coastal Resources
Division in oyster reef restoartion projects on the coast of Georgia.
(UGA MAREX's project is part of the Fish America Foundation. GA
DNR-CRD's project is part of the Southeast Aquatic Resources
Partnership. CCA GA demanded an
Environmental Impact Study to re-examine the effects of dumping 3
million gallons of treated wastewater daily into the Laurel View River. CCA GA supports funding for the Peach State Reds Initiative, a five-year hatchery raised refish pilot program conducted by the GA DNR-CRD. CCA GA supports a continuation of a ban on harvesting egg-bearing female blue crabs. CCA GA supports an act to name red drum as a gamefish. CCA GA develops its 11th chapter, CCA Lanier. CCA GA supports House Bill 1058, a change in the weakfish daily creel/possesion limit. CCA
GA submits a position statement to NOAA regarding a proposed marine
research area in Gray's Reef Marine Sanctuary off the Georgia Coast. CCA reef is renamed CCA-JL in honor of past State Chairman, James Lynah, V. CCA GA volunteers complete an oyster reef restoration project at Bellville Landing in McIntosh County. CCA GA volunteers create a fish habitat at Ski-Rixen Pond on Jekyll Island. CCA GA supports tilting of watercraft. CCA GA supports cut-off age on mandatory boater education course. CCA GA starts a specialty license plate petition.
